Unit Agenda

Unit 03 will continue to investigate architectural notions of metamorphosis. We will examine the rich potential of reciprocal association between dynamic site conditions, active occupational behaviours and animate architectural systems. We will operate across spatial and temporal scales to investigate, document and propose various processes of change. We will generate experimental new architectures; speculative interactive propositions which engage with and facilitate modes of modification, adjustment and transformation.

The unit will challenge the degrading tendency, prevalent in normative architectural production, to consider the architectural proposition as an inert object abstracted from time. We will produce ambitious proposals for an architecture which acknowledges the inherently temporal nature of spatial experience, the constantly shifting territories of the urban landscape and the perpetually animate physical, social, historical and economic processes which constitute the city.
